Read this one properly. DEM is a record-keeping tool. It is not a certifying authority, it does not inspect anything, and it cannot tell you what a piece of lifting gear is safe to lift.
The safe working load of an item comes from that item's own certificate and its stamped mark — never from this app, and never from a size chart.
DEM records what you enter about a vessel's lifting equipment and stores: descriptions, serial numbers, SWL values, certificate references, inspection and expiry dates, quantities and remarks. It sorts that information, warns you about dates that have passed or are approaching, and prints it into reports.
You are responsible for what you put in and for what you do with what comes out. In particular:
Where a value is missing, DEM prints a dash and says the value is missing. It does not guess, and it does not fill a gap with something plausible. That is deliberate — but it means a blank field is a fact you must go and resolve, not a problem the app has solved.
DEM requires an account. You must give an accurate email address, keep your password to yourself, and are responsible for what is done through your account. We may suspend an account that is used to abuse the service.
Your register syncs to your account; your photographs and certificate files stay on your device (see the Privacy Policy). Keep backups. Deleting the app removes every local file with it, and no amount of syncing will bring back a photograph that was never uploaded in the first place.
We take reasonable care, but we do not guarantee that the service will be uninterrupted, or that data will never be lost. The .dem backup exists for exactly that reason. Use it.
DEM is in active development. Features may change, and some described on this site are marked as still to come. Nothing here is a promise that a particular feature will ship on a particular date.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Kuka Lab is not liable for any loss, damage, injury, penalty or detention arising from the use of, or reliance on, information recorded in or produced by DEM — including any incident involving lifting equipment. The app records; the responsibility for the gear, its examination and its use remains with the vessel, its operator and the competent persons appointed by them.
The app, its design and its content belong to Kuka Lab. Your data belongs to you.
We may update these terms. Material changes will be announced in the app before they take effect.
